As the “James May” of the group, I always leaned towards BMW with my motorcycle choices. Smooth power, relatively reliable, and I don’t know what any of the horsepower specs are. Once a previous owner of an R1150GS ADV, one day I was reading the “Adventuring Motorcycling Handbook” in the kitchen of a Portugeese condo and came across Walter Colebatch’s blurb about the G650X as an adventure bike. After reading his three posts on his site (Post 1 here) I had a mind altering awakening that I didn’t want to be on a tank of a motorcycle until I was at least 45.
